Story Makers: Sunny Days and Rainy Days

Date Released - 06/09/2022

TAMESIDE Libraries are pleased to announce that their highly popular Story Makers sessions are back again thanks to funding from the council’s community safety partnership.

Story Makers are weekly interactive storytelling activities for pre-school children and their families which fit in with the Tameside Loves Reading campaign. This time the focus is on mindfulness and good mental health and wellbeing.

As in previous years, families who attend will have the opportunity to work with writer Caryl Hart and illustrator Andy Rowland to create a children’s picture book of which they will receive a free copy at the end of the project.

Interactive sessions with Simon the Storyteller start on Tuesday, September 20, and no booking is necessary. They take place at:

Cllr Sangita Patel, Tameside Council’s assistant executive member for culture, heritage and digital inclusivity, said: “Story Makers has been a major success story since the first project was launched five years ago. I’ve been very impressed by the way families with young children have embraced the sessions and enjoyed them. We must have given out hundreds of books.

“I love to see children develop an interest in books and I don’t think there’s a better way to do that than this wonderful scheme which lets families create a unique picture book.”
